US President Donald Trump has warned Iran that “time is running out” to reach a nuclear deal, as the United States continues to strengthen its military presence in the Gulf region. Trump said a powerful US naval fleet, led by the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln, is moving rapidly toward the region, signaling serious pressure on Tehran.
Speaking on social media, Trump urged Iran to come to the negotiating table and agree to a deal that ensures it does not develop nuclear weapons. He also warned that any future military action would be “far worse” than previous US strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities.
Iran responded sharply to the warning. Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said Iranian forces are fully prepared to respond immediately to any attack. Tehran again insisted that its nuclear programme is peaceful and denied any intention to build nuclear weapons.
Meanwhile, satellite images and flight data reviewed by BBC Verify show increased US military activity across the Middle East, including fighter jets, surveillance aircraft, and warships positioned near Iran. Iran has also deployed a drone carrier near its coast, highlighting rising tensions on both sides.
The situation comes amid renewed international pressure on Iran over uranium enrichment and missile development, with UN sanctions reimposed and no formal negotiations currently underway between Washington and Tehran.
