Argentina, England, the Netherlands, and Algeria to base WC camps in Kansas!

Desk report

Kansas City is possibly going to play a significant role in the approaching 2026 FIFA World Cup set to commence in June this year, revealed the reports.

Four highly placed sources have confirmed to FOX4 that four nations that include the defending champions Argentina alongside England, the Netherlands and Algeria will call the Kansas City metro home during the 2026 World Cup, basing their training camps in the region for the marquee tournament.

Sources confirmed to the media outlet that Argentina will train at Compass Minerals Sporting Fields in Kansas City, Kansas, at Sporting Kansas City’s facilities. England will be at the Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City, Missouri.

Algeria is headed to Rock Chalk Park in Lawrence while the Netherlands will train in Riverside at the Kansas City Current’s facilities.

Among the countries choosing the Kansas City region as base camp is Argentina, the defending World Cup champions, who will begin their title defense at Arrowhead Stadium, marking one of the most high-profile matches Kansas City has ever hosted.

However, FIFA is yet to formally announce team base camps; selections are typically finalised well ahead of the tournament to allow teams to coordinate logistics, training sites, and security.

Kansas City was already set to host six World Cup matches in 2026.

With the presence of Argentina, England, the Netherlands and Algeria, this elevates the Kansas City region into one of the central hubs of the entire tournament.

FOX4 reached out to FIFA and the KC 2026 organizing committee for comment. KC 2026 provided this statement:

“We have not had any FIFA confirmation on potential base camp locations. I know there is lots of speculation out there. At this point, it is just speculation. Until it is official, there are lots of moving parts. We understand people are anxious and excited to hear, as are we.”
