Mirza Abbas Returns to Bangladesh After Treatment

Mirza Abbas returns to Bangladesh after more than five months of medical treatment in Singapore and Malaysia, marking his return home following a lengthy recovery process.

The BNP standing committee member, political adviser to the prime minister and Dhaka-8 lawmaker arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 9:15pm on Wednesday.

He travelled back to Bangladesh on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight. His wife, Afroza Abbas, who is also president of Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal, returned with him.

A large number of party leaders and activists gathered at the airport before his arrival. Supporters welcomed Mirza Abbas with slogans as he left the airport.

Mirza Abbas Returns After Medical Treatment

According to Shairul Kabir Khan, a member of the BNP media cell, the medical board responsible for Mirza Abbas’s treatment permitted him to return home after his condition improved significantly.

However, his recovery will continue in Bangladesh.

Khan said Mirza Abbas will remain under medical care and receive therapy every day following his return.

The veteran political leader had spent more than five and a half months abroad for advanced medical treatment and rehabilitation.

What Happened to Mirza Abbas?

Mirza Abbas suddenly lost consciousness while attending an iftar at his residence in Shahjahanpur, Dhaka, on March 11.

Doctors admitted him to Evercare Hospital in Dhaka later that night as his condition required urgent medical attention.

His health later deteriorated, and doctors performed two brain surgeries on March 13.

After receiving initial treatment in Bangladesh, he travelled abroad for further medical care.

Treatment in Singapore and Malaysia

Mirza Abbas left Bangladesh for Singapore by air ambulance on March 15 for advanced treatment.

Doctors treated him at Singapore General Hospital until April 13.

Following medical advice, he travelled to Malaysia and was admitted to Prince Court Medical Centre on April 14.

He later continued his recovery at a specialised rehabilitation centre, where he regularly received physiotherapy.

The extended treatment and rehabilitation programme continued for more than five months before his medical team cleared him to return to Bangladesh.

Recovery Will Continue in Bangladesh

Although doctors allowed Mirza Abbas to return home, his treatment has not yet fully ended.

His medical team has advised him to continue therapy and remain under regular medical supervision.

His return to Dhaka comes after doctors observed a significant improvement in his physical condition during his treatment abroad.

Mirza Abbas will now continue his recovery in Bangladesh while receiving daily therapy as part of his rehabilitation.

His return also brings him back to the country’s political scene after a long absence caused by his health condition and overseas treatment.
