Obaidul Quader sentenced to death by International Crimes Tribunal-2 along with six other leaders for crimes against humanity during the July Uprising in 2024.

The International Crimes Tribunal delivered its landmark verdict Thursday in the murder case of Abu Sayed, the student whose death before a police firing line became the defining image of Bangladesh’s 2024 July mass uprising. Two former police officers were sentenced to death, three others to life imprisonment, and the remaining 25 accused received varying prison terms in what stands as the first completed trial arising from the uprising that toppled Sheikh Hasina’s government.
