Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant 2026

Fuel loading began at Unit 1 of the Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant on April 28, 2026, marking the most historic energy milestone in Bangladesh’s independent history. Bangladesh becomes the 33rd country in the world to generate nuclear electricity and the third South Asian nation after India and Pakistan. The first 300 megawatts of power is expected to reach the national grid by late July or early August 2026.
