Officials say several parts of the city recorded over <strong>300 millimetres of rain<\/strong> during the last 24 hours, raising the risk of flooding and landslides.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Over 300mm of Rainfall Recorded Across Mumbai<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>According to city officials, multiple areas received more than <strong>200mm of rainfall<\/strong>, while some locations crossed the <strong>300mm mark<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The highest rainfall was recorded in:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Vikhroli West Building Proposal Office \u2013 <strong>310.6 mm<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Colaba Pumping Station \u2013 <strong>306.6 mm<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Thakur Nagar Municipal School, Vikhroli \u2013 <strong>301.8 mm<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Many other areas, including Malabar Hill, Powai, Bhandup, Andheri, Jogeshwari, Goregaon, Colaba, and Mandvi, also experienced rainfall exceeding 200mm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Authorities Urge Residents to Stay Home<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC)<\/strong> has advised residents to remain indoors unless travel is necessary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Citizens have also been asked to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Follow official weather warnings.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Avoid low-lying and coastal areas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Contact the BMC emergency helpline <strong>1916<\/strong> during emergencies.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Authorities warned that dangerous high tides could worsen flooding, with tides expected to reach <strong>4.19 metres<\/strong> on Sunday afternoon and <strong>3.51 metres<\/strong> early Monday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Transport Services Continue with Minor Disruptions<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Despite the severe weather, Mumbai Metro and BEST bus services continued operating normally on Sunday morning.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>However, commuters reported delays on suburban railway services because of waterlogging and heavy rainfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On Saturday, flooding on railway tracks temporarily disrupted Central and Western Railway services, while a technical fault briefly affected Metro Line 2A operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Neighbouring Regions Also Affected<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The relentless rainfall has also impacted <strong>Thane, Navi Mumbai, Palghar, and Pune<\/strong>, where flooding and landslides have damaged roads and forced emergency evacuations in some locations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Disaster response teams remain on standby as local authorities monitor the weather closely.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>More Heavy Rain Expected<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The IMD forecasts additional heavy to very heavy rainfall across Mumbai and nearby districts throughout Sunday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Strong winds between <strong>55 and 65 km\/h<\/strong> are also expected, increasing the possibility of falling trees, damaged infrastructure and further transport disruption.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Residents have been advised to avoid unnecessary travel until weather conditions improve.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mumbai remains on high alert after more than 300mm of rainfall in several areas within 24 hours.
