Cole Tomas Allen, the 31-year-old California man accused of attempting to assassinate President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents Dinner, has agreed to remain in federal custody as his criminal case moves forward.

An armed gunman forced his way through a security checkpoint at the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington on Saturday night, triggering the immediate evacuation of President Donald Trump, First Lady Melania Trump, and Vice President JD Vance. The suspect, identified as Cole Tomas Allen, 31, of Torrance, California, was arrested at the scene. One Secret Service officer was struck but protected by a bulletproof vest and is expected to fully recover.
