SSC Result 2026: Pass Rate Falls to 62.25%

Dhaka, August 10, 2026: Bangladesh’s SSC Result 2026 shows a sharp decline in the overall pass rate, with 62.25% of students passing the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent examinations. The figure fell by 6.2 percentage points from last year, highlighting a significant change in this year’s examination results.

Education authorities released the results on Monday, August 10. According to the results, 1,138,877 students passed out of 1,829,485 examinees, while 116,676 students secured GPA-5.

Pass Rate Drops From Last Year

The overall pass rate stood at 68.45% in 2025, meaning this year’s result represents a notable decline. The number of GPA-5 achievers also dropped from 139,032 in 2025 to 116,676 this year.

The latest figures suggest that students faced greater challenges in achieving top grades this year. However, the results also show a clear difference between male and female performance.

Girls Outperform Boys

Female students recorded a higher pass rate than male students across the examinations.

Of 911,791 female examinees, 607,939 passed, giving girls a pass rate of 66.68%. Among 917,694 male examinees, 530,938 passed, resulting in a pass rate of 57.86%.

Girls also led among GPA-5 achievers. A total of 63,896 female students secured GPA-5, compared with 52,780 male students.

The gender gap in both pass rates and GPA-5 results stands out as one of the major features of the 2026 SSC results.

General Education Boards

Under the nine general education boards, 1,404,539 candidates took the examinations. Among them, 899,610 students passed, while 106,009 students achieved GPA-5.

The figures cover students under the country’s general education boards, while separate results apply to madrasa and technical education streams.

Madrasa and Technical Results

The Dakhil examinations under the Madrasa Education Board recorded a pass rate of 55.49%.

Meanwhile, students who took the SSC Vocational and Dakhil Vocational examinations under the Technical Education Board recorded a combined pass rate of 58.20%.

These figures bring the overall SSC and equivalent examination results to a national pass rate of 62.25%.

A Major Shift in 2026 Results

The decline in both the overall pass rate and the number of GPA-5 achievers makes the 2026 SSC results notably different from the previous year.

While the lower results may raise concerns among students, parents and education stakeholders, the figures also provide an opportunity to examine examination standards, classroom learning and student preparation.

For students who passed, the next major step will be admission to higher secondary education. Those who did not achieve their expected results will have opportunities to review their marks and explore the available academic options.
