Bond Payment Up to $15,000
Since January 21, 2026, people from Bangladesh who apply for a B1 or B2 visa (visitor visa) may have to pay a bond of up to $15,000. The consular officer will tell you at your interview if you need to pay this and how much. Do not use any outside website or agent to pay this only follow what the officer tells you.
Visa Fees Have Gone Up
A new $250 “Visa Integrity and Border Security Fee” has been added on top of the regular $185 MRV fee. This means many visa applicants are now paying more money than before. Make sure you check the current total fee before applying.
Immigrant Visa Now Takes Two Days
Starting March 1, 2026, the U.S. Embassy in Dhaka changed how it processes certain family-based immigrant visas including IR-1, IR-2, IR-5, CR-1, and CR-2. These applicants must now attend two separate visits. Before your first visit, upload all your documents to your CEAC account.
No More Interview Waivers (For Most People)
In the past, some people could renew their visa without going to an interview. That option is now removed for most visa types. Almost everyone must now attend an in-person interview at the embassy or consulate.
